Water Corporation – Desalination

In Western Australia, people have turned to climate independent sources such as desalination to get water. In 2006, Perth became the first Australian city to operate a seawater desalination plant. Almost half of Perth’s water needs are supplied by two seawater desalination plants, one in Kwinana and the other in Binningup. By using a desalination process to obtain water, they have reduced the city’s vulnerability to droughts.
